Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 October 2026
The short version
- Your videos, photos and music stay on your own computer. We don't upload or store your media, except for the few things you choose to share (a review link, or a file your AI assistant adds).
- We keep only what we need to run Takejam: your account, your projects (the edit itself) and your plan.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies.
- You can download your data or delete your account at any time.
- We may change this policy, our Terms and our Refund Policy at any time. The latest version is always on this page.
1. Who we are
Takejam is a video editor that runs in your web browser, at takejam.com. It is run by Mahfuj Khondoker, an individual based in Madaripur, Bangladesh ("Takejam", "we", "us"). We decide how your personal data is used for the service, which makes us the "controller" under data-protection laws such as the GDPR.
Questions about privacy go to support@takejam.com.
2. What we collect
Your account
- Your email address, your name and a password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form by our login provider; we can't see them.
- If you sign in with Google: the name, email address and profile picture Google shares with us. We don't get your Google password or access to your Google files.
Your projects
- The edit itself: the timeline, clips and their settings, text and captions, colours, effects, markers, project names, the names and basic details of your media files (such as length and size), and the review notes and comments you and your teammates add.
- We store this on our servers so your project opens on your other devices and your teammates can edit with you. Earlier versions are kept for a time that depends on your plan, so you can go back.
Workspaces, teams and billing
- Your workspace, its plan and seats, who is a member and their role, and the email addresses you send invites to.
- Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and "merchant of record". We never see or store your card details. From Lemon Squeezy we receive your name, email, country, what you bought and whether your subscription is active.
- Gifts and coupon codes applied to your workspace.
How Takejam is used
- How many edits your AI connector makes each day (some plans have a daily limit), which days you were active, and when you signed in.
- A record of important account actions (for example plan changes, invites and admin actions), for security and support.
- We don't use third-party analytics, advertising pixels or session recording.
Other
- Emails you send us and our replies.
- Product updates: if you subscribe on our website, your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Technical data: like any website, our servers and hosting providers receive your IP address and browser type when you connect, and keep short-lived logs to keep the service running and secure.
3. Your media stays with you
The video, audio, image and font files you edit are kept in your browser's storage on your own device. They are not uploaded to Takejam. A few features work differently, and only when you use them:
- Editing with teammates. When a teammate needs a file you added, it is copied directly from your computer to theirs over an encrypted peer-to-peer connection. Our server only helps the two browsers find each other; the file doesn't pass through it or get stored there.
- Review links. When you share a project for review, the video you export is uploaded to our storage so your viewer can watch it. It is deleted after 30 days, or straight away when you turn the link off. Anyone with the link can watch the video and add comments.
- AI connector. If you connect an AI assistant (for example through our MCP connector), the still frames it asks to see are stored on our server for up to 24 hours, and media files it adds are stored for up to 7 days so your teammates can receive them. Then they are deleted.
- On-device AI. Auto-captions, background removal, object tracking and audio clean-up run entirely on your device. Your audio and video are not sent anywhere. The AI models are downloaded once from Hugging Face or Google's servers, which see your IP address like any download.
Because your media lives on your device, clearing your browser's site data or losing the device can remove it. Keep your own copies of important files.
4. How we use your data, and why
| What we do | Legal reason (GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Create and run your account, save and sync your projects, let teammates edit with you, apply your plan | Needed to provide the service you asked for (contract) |
| Send account emails: confirming your email, password resets, team invites, important notices | Contract |
| Take payments, apply gifts and coupons, keep billing records | Contract; legal obligation |
| Answer support requests | Contract; our legitimate interest in helping you |
| Keep Takejam secure, prevent abuse, enforce fair-use limits, fix problems | Legitimate interests |
| Understand which features are used (counts only, inside Takejam), to improve the product | Legitimate interests |
| Send product updates you subscribed to | Consent (you can withdraw it at any time) |
We don't sell your personal data, use it for advertising, or use your projects or media to train AI models.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted providers to run Takejam. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide their service:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Login, our database (accounts, projects, workspaces) and storage for review-link videos |
| Resend | Sending account emails and team invites |
| Lemon Squeezy | Checkout, payments, taxes, invoices and subscriptions. As merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy also uses your payment data under its own privacy policy. |
| "Sign in with Google", if you choose it. The editor also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address. | |
| Cloudflare | Our domain, DNS and forwarding of email sent to our addresses |
| Netlify | Hosting our website and receiving the product-updates sign-up form |
| Our server hosting provider | Running the server that keeps teammates' timelines in sync |
Other people who see your data because you choose so:
- Your teammates see the projects in your shared workspace, your name and email, and where you are in the timeline while you edit together.
- People with a review link see that video and its comments.
- AI tools you connect (for example Claude or ChatGPT) can read and change the projects you give them access to. What they do with that data is covered by their own terms and privacy policies.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or transfer of Takejam (you would be told first).
6. Where your data is stored
Our database and storage are in Singapore. Some providers listed above process data in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. When data leaves the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on our providers' legal safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Account, workspaces and projects | While your account exists. Deleted within 30 days after you delete your account (backups roll over within a further 30 days). |
| Earlier versions of a project | 7 days on the Free plan, 30 days on paid plans |
| Review-link videos and their comments | 30 days, or until you turn the link off |
| AI connector frames / files | Up to 24 hours / up to 7 days |
| Usage counts and the account activity record | Up to 12 months |
| Billing records | As long as tax and accounting laws require (Lemon Squeezy keeps the payment records) |
| Support emails | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends |
| Product-updates email address | Until you unsubscribe |
Media on your own device stays until you delete it. Projects you open without an account stay in your browser until you remove them.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- see the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy in a common format you can take elsewhere;
- correct it if it's wrong;
- delete it, by deleting your account or asking us;
- object to or limit some uses of it, and withdraw consent you gave (for example to product updates).
You can download your data and delete your account from your account settings, or email support@takejam.com. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm it's really you. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority, though we'd like the chance to sort it out first.
California residents: we don't sell or "share" personal information for cross-context advertising, and we don't use sensitive personal information to infer anything about you. You have the rights to know, delete and correct described above, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
9. Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS and encrypted peer-to-peer connections). Access to the database is limited by strict per-user rules, passwords are hashed, and only the people who need it to run the service can reach our systems. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Found a security problem? Please email support@takejam.com.
10. Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, so you won't see a cookie banner from us. Takejam uses your browser's storage only for things it needs to work:
- keeping you signed in;
- your editor preferences, such as the theme and panel layout;
- your media files and offline copies of your projects, on your device.
Google Fonts and Lemon Squeezy's checkout may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when you use them.
11. Children
Takejam isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. In the European Economic Area and the UK you must be at least 16, or have a parent's or guardian's permission. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may change, update or replace this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service, our Refund Policy and any of our other policies at any time, at our own discretion. The version published on our website is the one that applies, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
For important changes, we'll also tell you by email or in Takejam before they take effect. If you keep using Takejam after a change takes effect, the updated policy applies to you. If you don't agree with it, you can stop using Takejam and delete your account.
